The 7th Model African Union Assembly

The 7th Model African Union (AU) Assembly, hosted by the Korea-Africa Foundation (President Kim Young-chae) and the National Assembly Africa Forum (President Lee Heon-seung), and supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the African Union (AU), and the African Diplomatic Corps in Korea, was successfully held at the National Assembly Building from November 15 to 16.

The assembly was attended by 56 country representatives and chairpersons, as well as approximately 20 mentors from the African student community in Korea. Participants engaged in discussions on topics such as "21st-Century Tailored Education for Africa" and "The Role of the AU in Strengthening Cooperation with the Global South." Various perspectives were shared from the youth's point of view, and outcome documents for each agenda were adopted. A special session was held to discuss cooperation plans with Korea, following the successful Korea-Africa Summit held in June 2024, facilitating in-depth discussions on enhancing cooperation between Africa and Korea.

After two days of intense debates and evaluations, the following eight teams were awarded: Namibia and Burkina Faso (Ministry of Foreign Affairs Award), Sudan and Zambia (National Assembly Africa Forum Chairman's Award), Cote d'Ivoire and Botswana (African Diplomatic Corps in Korea Award), and Gabon and South Africa (Korea-Africa Foundation Chairperson's Award). The two teams that received the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Award will be provided with the opportunity to visit the AU Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, as part of their prize.
