On September 25, 2025, the Korea-Africa Foundation, in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in South Africa, hosted the 2025 Korea?South Africa Future Dialogue Seminar in Pretoria to explore opportunities for bilateral cooperation in key areas such as health and education.
The seminar featured two sessions focusing on ways to establish sustainable cooperation by linking Korea’s public and private sector resources with South Africa’s local needs in the fields of health, education, and women’s empowerment.
Speakers included Prof. Glenda Gray (University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa), Mr. Hoon-sang Lee (Director of Strategic Planning, RIGHT Foundation), Mr. Jae-young Lee (Vice President, GL Rapha/Glory Biovax), Ms. Maria Visaya (Senior Lecturer, University of Johannesburg), Prof. Soo-won Kim (Hankuk University of Foreign Studies), and Dr. Ka-young Park (Research Professor, KAIST). Each session was followed by a panel discussion.
In his welcoming remarks, Mr. Young-chae Kim, President of the Korea-Africa Foundation, highlighted that “South Africa, as this year’s G20 chair, holds a vital position connecting major global economies.” He further emphasized that “as the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) is fully implemented, the potential for deeper cooperation will grow even greater.”
