2025 GMEP Climate Tech Companies Visit the Korean Embassy in South Africa
Seven companies in the climate tech sector participating in GMEP(Global Market Expansion Program) in 2025 visited the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in South Africa on August 25 (Monday) to visit Korean Ambassador to South Africa, Yang Dong-han and hold a luncheon meeting.
At the meeting, Ambassador Yang Dong-han shared South Africa's market status and entry strategy and delivered practical advice and support to participating companies to discover opportunities there. In particular, he emphasized the importance of continuous expansion of cooperation between South Korea and South Africa, especially in the field of climate technology such as renewable energy and agriculture, and furthermore, between South Korea and Africa.
The Korea-Africa Foundation operates GMEP, a cross-ministerial cooperation project, and has selected seven climate tech companies and eight aging tech companies to provide customized acceleration programs in Africa.
Participating companies in the climate tech sector are conducting various overseas expansion programs, including market research, networking, and business meetings in South Africa (Capetown, Johannesburg) and Nairobi, Kenya for about three weeks from August 15 (Fri) to September 2 (Tue).
In the future, the Korea-Africa Foundation will continue to actively support promising domestic startups entering Africa and expanding technological cooperation.
